Come join the Milites Sanctae

The Secret World Cabal member LeonneRcane set up our cabal today (aka guild).  He was trying to do it Saturday and it wouldn’t work.  Well, apparently, the name “Guardian” isn’t allowed in cabal names.  So, the Latin version is Milites Sanctae (Rcane is smart that way).

As I stated before, it doesn’t matter what dimension you are in, when we group we’ll all be moved to the same dimension (which ever the group leader is on).  So come join us.  The Secret World launches officially July 3rd.  Because of the flexibility of not having levels, we can meet you anywhere and run around together.  There are 5 person dungeons that we’d love to have you join us in.

For people just exploring us as an option, we are a family friendly guild.  We frown on excessive swearing, understand needing to AFK to pull the child from a dangerous situation, and use Skype rather than typing to make communication easy.

The Secret World

A benefit to The Secret World (TSW) is there are no servers, it’s a cloud based technology.  Each account has a home dimension, but you can move across dimensions to group dynamically.  So, while we are right now on Daemon Dimension for the early access to The Secret World, that won’t limit us to grouping as a cabal (aka guild).

The Secret World CabalTwo days ago the first dimension names were released:

  • Cerberus
  • Daemon
  • Arcadia (RP dimension) (and subsequently renamed)
  • Grim
  • Huldra
  • Drac (French dimension)
  • Kobold (German dimension)

Because of this dimension technology, you will just need to look for “Rcane”, “Leonne”, and we’ll add other names as we make characters.  Look forward to seeing you in The Secret World MMO RPG!

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Bioware has recently released a new trailer for the upcoming MMORPG. Star Wars: The Old Republic. This trailer includes some history of Darth Revan and is set with a group of players working for the Sith Empire to find old secrets about Darth Revan.

Quoting directly from Bioware’s site:

“The Jedi Civil War left many unanswered questions. In the difficult days following the showdown between Darth Revan and Darth Malak, the Jedi Order struggled to survive, leaving little time for investigations. Redeemed as a Jedi, Revan traveled into deep space in search of a mysterious evil. We now know that the source of this evil was the reconstituted Sith Empire, but that solves only a portion of the mystery…”

One of the most interesting things about the trailer is it includes some in-game dialogue and in-game combat sequences including several different character classes and combat styles. These combat styles include a double-bladed lightsaber, a standard lightsaber, a blaster rifle, twin blaster pistols, and a single blaster pistol.

The combat looks very impressive, but does not show much of the game mechanics yet. It definitely wets the appetite though and shows off the capabilities Bioware is well known for from Knights of the Old Republic I and II.

The release date of Old Republic is another mystery, but there are clues that it is growing close. One such clue is the release of a prelude book entitle Star Wars: The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance. This book was released in July of 2010, and other Old Republic books are slated on Amazon for release over the next several months.

As always, we will provide any information we can about this upcoming title. Most of us are very excited, and hope to hear more information very soon.

Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty

Disclaimer: not an MMO – but is team cooperative playable

Rcane & I bought Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty day it came out (end of July). It’s good, standard Starcraft with better graphics. Rcane has already beat the storyline, I haven’t gotten past destroying the trains yet.Starcraft actual game play from Amazon

Product Features (from amazon.com)
* Fast-paced, hard-hitting, tightly balanced competitive real-time strategy gameplay that recaptures and improves on the original game
* Three completely distinct races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg
* Units and gameplay mechanics distinguish each race
* 3D-graphics engine with support for visual effects and massive unit and army sizes
* Full multiplayer support, with competitive features and matchmaking utilities available through Battle.net

I like that they kept the same keyboard commands. CTRL + a number sets a group. Then use that number to select it. There are some great new units!

Playing on Battle.net has been reported to me by Rcane as nothing less than frustrating. Rather than make a great sized army to defeat you, the other players do zergling rushes (or Terran soldiers too).

It took us a few tries to connect cooperatively. We have a LAN and wanted to use it, avoiding the internet connection. But alas, that was not to be. So we both have Battle.net accounts again, although we’re set to accept invites from friends only, and only have each other as friends to avoid the nonsense that younger players bring with them.

Many people complain that they can’t “spawn” this version for free.  I disagree.  Blizzard has put out another great quality game (although it is a bit pricey, but all games are going that way) and I think they should get paid for their hard work.

Now if the Everquest servers would just be down more often I’d get to play Starcraft a bit more!
